Na parčetu kartona zakačenom za stub od poštanskog sandučeta rukom je bilo napisano "POKLANJAM MAĆIĆE". Taj natpis se tu pojavljivao dva - tri puta godišnje, ponekada napisano tim rečima, nekad drugačije, ali poruka je uvek bila ista.

U ćošku terase iza seoske kuće stajala je kartonska kutija sa prljavim peškirom na kome su se jedno uz drugo šćućurili mačići raznih boja, kao buket cveća, mjaučući i žmirkajući i čekajući da im se mama vrati iz lova u polju. Majka mačka je uspela da im ukaže dovoljno pažnje prvih nekoliko nedelja, ali kako je imala po dva-tri legla godišnje, bila je iznemogla i jedva je imala dovoljno mleka da joj mladunci prežive.
Jedno po jedno, ljudi su dolazili tokom nekoliko narednih dana i svako je uzeo po mače. Pre nego što bi otišli žena koja je tu živela svakome je govorila isto: "Obavezno vodite računa o njemu, ovo mi je baš priraslo srcu".
Jedno po jedno, mačići i njihovi novi vlasnici odvozili su se dugim prilazom kući pored natpisa na stubu "POKLANJAM MAĆIĆE".
Prvo su odneli žuto žensko mače. Njena četvorogodišnja vlasnica mnogo ju je volela, ali devojčica je slučajno povredila macino rame jer je nije podigla kako treba. Nije ona bila kriva - niko od odraslih joj nije pokazao kako se pravilno uzima mače. Nazvala je macu Žućkica i bila je mnogo tužna nekoliko nedelja kasnije kada su se njen stariji brat i njegovi drugovi igrali u dnevnoj sobi i neko je seo na mače.
Beli mačorčić sa plavim očima sledeći je napustio imanje, sa parom koji je saopštio još pre nego što su sišli s terase da će ga zvati Sneško. Nažalost, on nikada nije naučio svoje ime i na njega su obraćali tako malo pažnje da niko nije primetio da je bio gluv. Kada je prvi put izašao vani pregazio ga je poštanski kombi na prilazu kući.
Lepa sivo-bela mačkica otišla je da živi na susednom imanju kao "lovica". Njeni vlasnici zvali su je "mačka", i kao i njena majka i baka imala je mnogo, mnogo "maćića za poklanjanje", ali oni su joj iscrpli snagu. Razbolela se i umrla pre nego što su mačići iz poslednjeg legla prestali da sisaju.
Drugi brat bio je prelep tigrasti mačak narandžaste boje. Njegova vlasnica ga je toliko zavolela da ga je nosila da upozna celu porodicu, i njene prijatelje, i njihove mačke, i svi su se složili da je Erik lep mačak. Samo što se njegova vlasnica nije potrudila da ga vakciniše. Podigla je sav novac iz banke da plati lečenje kada se razboleo, ali veterinar je jednog dana samo odmahnuo glavom i rekao "Žao mi je".
Crni mačkić je postao pravi zavodnik kada je porastao. Čovek koji ga je usvojio ubrzo se odselio a Tomija je ostavio da luta po kraju, brani svoju teritoriju i bude otac mnogo mačića, dok ga jedan siledžijski pas nije saterao u ćošak.
Crno-bela ženkica dobila je divan dom. Nazvali su je Pajveket. Dobijala je najbolju hranu, najbolju negu skoro pet godina. Onda je njena vlasnica upoznala čoveka koji nije voleo mačke, ali ipak se udala za njega. Pajveket su odneli u azil za životinje gde je već bilo stotinu mačaka. Onda, jednog dana, više nije bilo nijedne.
Jedna lepa žena u kombiju uzela je poslednje dvoje mačića, sivog dečaka i braon tigrastu devojčicu. Obećala je da će ih uvek držati zajedno. Prodala ih je za petnaest dolara po mačetu jednoj laboratoriji. I dan danas, i dalje su zajedno... u tegli sa alkoholom.
Ko zna kako i zašto - da li zato što je Raj u drugoj vremenskoj zoni, ili zato što ni mačje duše ne mogu da otputuju tamo bez lutanja - tek svi oni, opet kao mali mačići, stigli su pred vrata Raja u isto vreme. Tumarali su okolo i radosno lizali jedno drugo, igrali se i prevrtali neko vreme, a onda su svečano kročili kroz vrata, odmah pored table na kojoj je zlatnim slovima pisalo: "SADA STE KONAČNO SLOBODNI, MAČIĆI."

Mnogo volim macke, ali ponekad ucinim gresku. Pustala sam svog persijanca na ulicu, gde su se deca igrala sa njim, i jednom, kad nisam gledala, nestao je. Danas sam mazila mace ispred frizerskog salona i ono je poslo za mnom. Jedva sam ga vratila kuci. Moracu jos mnogo da naucim pre nego sto ponovo uzmem macku...

I ja sam istu gresku napravila, kada smo ziveli u prizemlju kuce pustali smo macka na ulicu bez nadzora, bio je tamo po celu noc. Sad kada pogledam na to vreme shvatam koliko smo vise srece nego pameti imali. Tada jos nije bio ni sterilisan, bilo nam je zao (veoma glupo s nase strane)... a kako bi nam tek bilo zao da ga je ubio pas ili neki drugi macor u borbi za zenku, da su ga zgazila kola, da ga je uhvatio i unakazio neki psihopata?! Da ni ne pominjem nasu odgovornost za macice koji su rodjeni tamo negde na ulici i ko zna koliko se mucili i kako zavrsili.

Nemogu da verujem kakvi su samo ljudi! Kako muce jadne bespomocne zivotinje! Koje su to budale koje bace male macice u kesi pre nego sto progledaju ili jos gore vezu im kamen za vrat i bace u vodu da se udave i potonu! :-( Treba voditi bar malo racuna i biti bar malo normalni! Sigurno sad mislite: Ko sam ja da vam sve ovo kazem! Pa ja sam neka osoba koja pokusava da macica bude manje uz pomoc moje macke! Ali nikada nisam bacila ni jedno mace,macku ili macora! Ja sam opsednuta mackama jednostavno ih obozavam i volim najvise na svetu! A pogotovo moju slatku macu! Jednom mi se ona omacila a nismo mogli da drzimo macice jer je omacila 6 macica! Omacila ih je napolju po snegu tako da sam ih ja unela u kucu tu su bili sve dok nisu progledali i ojacali dovoljno da mogu sami da se snalaze kao i njihova mama-maca. Kad sam ih pustila pazljivo sam gledala sta rade da se ne povrede ali nisam imala potrebe jer je njihova mama to bolje radila od mene. Morala sam da poklonim te macice. Tako sam dala oglase u novinama,na internetu cak se raspitala i po skoli. Tako sam na svu svoju srecu za manje od mesec dana poklonila svih 6 macica! Moja macka je bila tuzna ali tako je bilo najbolje i za nju,i za mene a i za macice! Jer da to nisam uradila desilo bi se ono najgore! Jer moji roditelji nevole macke! Ne brinite nista im se nece desiti od ovoga jer sam licno videla njihovu kucu a i njihovu narav! Macka je sad ostala sama a i nevoli drustvo. Vise voli da bude sama! Bar sam ja tako mislila! Jedne veceri dok sam sedela napolju videla sam moju macku sa nekom crnom macom. Mislila sam da je to macak i da je dosao da se pare ali moja maca je sterilisana tako da nemoze da ima mace! Priblizila sam se polako crnoj maci i uzela je u ruke,mazila sam je da je smirim jer sam morala da vidim sta je,bila je zensko! Mislila sam da je to neka macka od moje komsinice ali ta se macka pojavljivala svaki dan. Ja sam je hranila i mazila zajedno sa mojom mackom. Ona je ostala samnom i mojom mackom. I ona je bila sterilisna. Valjda su se tako i zblizile! Promenila je cud moje macke! Sad su najbolje drugarice! I dan danas su zajedno ali ne u tegli sa alkoholom vec samnom!
